When I studied ceramics in college, we were given a small range of glazes to work with. It's been almost 40 years now, but I can vaguely remember 5-ish options. Artee's Blue, Oxblood Red, VTC Copper Green, Buttermilk, black-something. I'm not sure if those names are correct, but it was a restricted palette.

Now, I look forward to experimenting with LOTS of color. Stocking up on every glaze is not feasible, or even desirable. However, I don't want to limit myself prematurely. So, I commited to purchasing a couple of pints of glaze each month over the past year. My ultimate plan is to make my own, but I want to hone in on a few color palettes first by using commercial glazes. They're easy to get and come in oodles of color. I was able to stop myself at 23. For now.

My selected glazes are listed below in no particular order. (The first column refers to they clay type and test tile number. ) I'm in the process of creating test tiles of each color, and then of layered combinations.
